Workshop Content
This interative one day workshop designed to turn your art into your business (at any level from part- to full-time) helps you:
- Properly Price Your Art: You will learn how to set a rational and market sensitive price for your art. This will give you the knowledge based flexibility to set a price you have confidence in and can modify as you want.
- Market Your Art - Advertising: Learn the practical "what","why"
and "cost" of advertising your art. All sources covered are either cheap, free or at a very low cost. - Market Your Art - Venues: Learn the "advantages","disadvantages" and "cost" of various art venues. The goal is to understand where you can put your art, what the cost/benefit will be to you and how to diversify your income stream.
- Engage in Cooperative Sales Training Exercises: You'll learn how
to cooperatively work with your clients to see how YOUR art fits THEIR needs...not hard sell them. You'll bring a piece of your art to the workshop and after a few exercises, will give a short "selling" presentation to your fellow artists.
This is the key to confidently talking about and selling your art. - Understand Your and Your Clients Communication Style: You will learn which of the four verbal communication styles you use and
how to identify your clients communication style. If your both can talk about your art "on the same wave length", your chances of selling your art MUCH better. - Do an Art Oriented Cash/Budget Financial Forecast:
Don't cringe. After we've gone through the "Mona Van Go Case Study" (the former Mona Lisa who is married to the hard of
hearing Vinny Van Go) you will be able to forecast:
- when you will make/need money
- how much you will make/need.
- where it can come from.
I promise it's very clear, understandable, easy and USEFUL. - Study a Simple and Usable Business Plan: Still don't cringe. Like
a road map, this straight-forward, simple and usable seven part plan will guide your art business to your final destination...
wherever it maybe.
ARTISTS PARTNERS: I strongly encourage artists' partners attend
the workshop to help/understand the business side of art. At best,
they can find a way to actively help the artist. At least, they can understand what an artist needs to do to make their art their business. As partners are fully active participants (no cheer leaders/observers here), they pay the regular fee.
